Seller agreement
For designers running a shop. Last updated 17 September 2026.
Draft, not reviewed. Unreviewed draft. The VAT clause below is a placeholder and is the single most important thing to settle with an accountant: under UK and EU rules a platform that sets the terms of a digital sale can be treated as the supplier even when the designer is the merchant, which would change who owes the VAT.
You are the seller
You sell directly to your customers. Loopstore provides the shop, the checkout and the delivery; we are not a party to the sale. Payments run through your own Stripe account and you are the merchant of record.
What we charge
We take 8% of each sale as a platform fee, collected automatically at checkout, on pattern sales and on each membership payment alike. There is no monthly charge. Stripe’s processing fees are yours in both cases and are deducted by Stripe.
Tax
You are responsible for your own tax, including registering for VAT where you need to. Digital sales to consumers can create VAT obligations in the buyer’s country regardless of where you are. We may be required to collect and remit VAT on some sales, in which case we will tell you before it starts and show it separately.
Your patterns
Your work stays yours. You give us the permission we need to host it, display it, and deliver it to your buyers — nothing more. We do not sell your patterns anywhere you have not asked us to, and listing on the marketplace is a choice you make per shop.
You confirm that you have the right to sell everything you upload.
What you may not sell
- Patterns you did not write, or that copy someone else’s substantially.
- Patterns using characters or brands you have no licence for.
- Machine-generated patterns presented as tested human work. If a pattern was produced with AI assistance, say so on the listing and test it before selling it.
- Anything illegal, or anything Stripe’s own rules prohibit.
Your customers
Your customer list is yours and you can export it whenever you like. You are the data controller for it, and you must handle it lawfully — that includes not adding buyers to a marketing list without their consent.
Refunds and disputes
You decide refunds for your own sales. Chargebacks and their fees come out of your account, since the payment was yours. We may refund a buyer ourselves where a file was never delivered or where you are unreachable, and recover it from your balance.
Suspension
We may suspend a shop that infringes someone else’s rights, breaks these rules, or puts our payment processing at risk. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
Leaving
Close your shop whenever you want. Export your customers and your patterns before you go. We will keep records we are required to keep for tax, and delete the rest. Existing memberships must be honoured or cancelled and refunded pro rata.
